We have been to Lime Tree several times in the past. Wife and I enjoy the beauty of this place set in the lovely Blue Mountains of Jamaica run... read more by the great team of Roger and Tifony along with Kasha who is a great cook and let us not forget Black Ops the resident security dog. Thanks to all for the pre-birthday cake for my wife. Will never forget the hospitality shown us. Looking forward to our next visit to paradise.

We stayed 2 nights at lime tree farm & had the most relaxing and enriching time. The views are incredible, the property is beautiful & the team are incredibly warm... read more & welcoming. We loved being immersed in nature and were delighted by all the streamertail humming birds. Thanks to Keisha for the best food we ate during our 2 week trip to Jamaica. Thanks to Rodger for sharing the fascinating history of the farm & for getting us there. Thanks to Tiffany for the kind hosting & chats. Thanks to Bigs for the hike up to Governor’s Bench and the photo shoots! And of course, many thanks to Black Ops for the company. We felt like we were welcomed into someone’s home. I very much hope we can return some day.

This review firstly comments on Lime Tree Farm, but also secondly offers some guidance, so you can see if this place is for you, based on its very special character,... read more and for that, I urge you to read to the end. First, for our review. My wife and I went for a few days in November 2022, and had a really splendid time. We loved pretty much everything, but above all the team, namely Rodger and Tifony (the owners) and Keisha the cook (whilst not forgetting the big boss, Black Ops, their dog). Together they have created something unique and very very special. The rooms are simple, of a good size, and well furnished, and the bathrooms similar. Everything was spotless and very clean. The cooking (and we recommend you to take full board as no realistic alternative exists), was very good, with soulful food from Jamaica. However you can ask Keisha to adjust anything, for she cooks from scratch, primarily using vegetables and fruit from their own gardens. We enjoyed and appreciated every one of her meals, which were accompanied by explanations. And let us not forget the endless supply of Blue Mountain coffee. There are 4 rooms on site (plus a fifth which can be used as a bunk bed family room), and eating is shared around a large table, in an open sided dining/bar room, with humming birds darting back and forth on the edges. There are 4 rooms on site (plus a fifth which can be used as a bunk bed family room), and eating is shared around a large table, in an open sided dining/bar room, with humming birds darting back and forth on the edges. All rooms have spectacular views of the Blue Mountains, and even from a couple of corners down to the Caribbean Sea, some 1,000 metres below. I would advise a light jumper or similar for evenings.
What is there to do at Lime Tree Farm? Well, if the truth be told, very little, except unwind. You should not use this as a centre, as it is so difficult to reach (more below). But that is the beauty. You have silence, the birds, and a night sky full of twinkling stars, which can be quite overwhelming. It is a place to come to and relax and chill out, and there is ample room to do just that. We practised our Pilates every morning on a large open terrace, with the rising sun, and just the birds for company, with breath-taking all round views. We did a couple of shortish walks (2 – 4 miles about) with Rodger, through local farms and plantations, up to viewpoints, plus I did a walk on my own down the track to the Mavis Bank Coffee Factory in the valley, a 6 ½ mile round trip, and well worth the effort. It is very safe here, with everyone friendly and welcoming, and very far away from the security issues seen elsewhere in Jamaica. One thing Rodger does do, and very well, is to tell you the story of coffee, from growing on the bush, through all the processing steps, to the final warm drink in your cup. I found it enlightening.
Tifony is the Farm Manager, and does a splendid job of growing fruit and vegetables on the steep slopes around the farm, but which produce practically everything they need to be self-sufficient. Tifony is also a qualified masseuse and will offer this service for a charge. My wife liked her massage very much.
Now the important bit, and this is why you should NOT come to Lime Tree Farm. This is an isolated farm, high up in the Blue Mountains, and getting here is difficult, which keeps it safe. The main road up to Mavis Bank (the nearest settlement of significance) is in very poor condition, taking about 2 hours from Kingston. From Mavis Bank, there is another 30 minutes up a very uneven track, which requires a 4 x 4 (but Rodger will happily pick you up, for a charge). You do not want to be going up and down here very often as it is a bone shaker. The location is very isolated, with visits to other locations not advised whilst you are here, due to its inaccessibility. There are no shops, no clubs, no restaurants within proximity. If you can tolerate the above, then I highly, even very highly, commend Lime Tree Farm to you! More

Beautiful boho experience on the delightfully-isolated side of the Blue Mountains.
Home-made and local food prepared by Keisha.
Rodger and his wife have forgotten more... read more about Jamaica and things to do than most will ever know. Has great tips for everything. Gave me great directions for a memorable trip to the (ultimately rather disappointing) Cinchona Gardens (an example of it being about the journey not the destination!).
A "can-do" attitude to help with any issues prevails - a most hospitable and relaxed atmosphere.
Rodger himself is fantastic and welcoming company - has lived a life less ordinary - and will gladly (non-intrusively) have a chat and a beer or three with you, or leave you your space.
The farm benefits from its delightful bucolic isolation - the only way up is a dirt-track which needs a heavy duty jeep, but this is all the better as it gets you away from the hustle and bustle of "real-life". This transport is not cheap and adds to the cost, but is worth it.
A fair amount of hiking locally, all quite safe it seems. Rodger may take you or will have some maps he can draw out for you.
A hike up Blue Mountain Peak, certainly achievable for a person of moderate fitness, especially on a week-day when you might have that glorious mountain to yourself, is a truly memorable experience. Lovely views from the top to Port Antonio on one side and Kingston below, and humming birds and natural foliage to beat the band all the way up. Note this requires a jeep-transfer from the farm, which adds some cost.
A truly unique and memorable place (this year was my second time back).
I hope they never pave that road and change the whole character of a unique slice of Jamaica.

We loved our trip to Lime Tree Farm - insane views, friendly hosts and delicious food. There are some great hikes but it’s also a very relaxing place to watch... read more the cloud climb over the mountains, read and drink homegrown coffee. Rodger, Tiff, Keisha and Black Ops the dog elevated our experience to the next level! The grounds are like a botanical garden with a profusion of stunning flowers and fruits. Will miss the fresh mint and lemongrass picked for our tea, and the birdsong acting as our morning alarm! More

I chose Lime Tree Farm because I needed a base for our hike to Blue Mountain Peak that wasn't too rustic for the rest of my family and it was... read more definitely the right choice. It's not easy to get to (although I believe the owner, Rodger, will do airport transfers if you would rather not risk the drive) but is worth the journey. The farm is a picture perfect location with absolutely stunning views of the surrounding Blue Mountains. Rodger was a more than gracious host who regaled us with stories of his sailing days and gave us an entertaining and educational history of coffee production in Jamaica (plus, samples from the farm). Tiffony and Keisha were also excellent hosts who whipped up some delicious Jamaican meals and kept us laughing with their antics. Worried about security, no problem as the grounds are patrolled by Black Ops a guard dog who is more interested in being friendly than menacing (our kids loved her). All in all, it was a great experience and a welcome dose of good old fashioned Jamaican hospitality. More

If you want to see and taste the true rural Jamaica - Lime Tree Farm is the place to visit.
We were picked up by our Host Rodger (An English... read more man who has lived here for over 25 years) in Kingston (definitely advisable to take the transfer - or at least from the factory at the end of the road!)
On the journey we saw lots of houses, people, bars and as the road became increasingly bumpy, we learnt all sorts of information from Rodger about life in Jamaica as he said hello and beeped to the locals on the way to the farm.
When we arrived at Lime Tree we were taken to our lovely, spacious accommodation. The temperature was very pleasant in the mountains and noticeably cooler than in Kingston.
Having taken in the spectacular view on our private terrace we were ready for lunch in the dining room (another brilliant view) which was prepared by Keisha and Angela.
The food was delicious and we had all our meals here. Fantastic home-cooking with organic fruit and veg from the farm, coffee from the farm and they catered for any dietary requirements and levels of spiciness!- We particularly enjoyed the fresh lime and ginger juice, the pumpkin soup, the string bean soup, the salted fish and ackee, the coconut chicken curry, reggae reggae rice and the fried plantain!
To top it all off, we went on a beautiful walk with Rodger and Black Ops (the dog) and had a coffee tour with Rodger (I even took some beans we had just roasted home)
We were dropped off by Rodger to pick up our car and he waited to make sure we were all sorted and helped me check the hire car before signing!
If you want to see how the real people live, relax, eat traditional food, take in the views and see more of the Island than just the beach - you should definitely go to LimeTree. We are glad to have seen an area we might otherwise have missed.
Thanks to Rodger, Tiffany, Keisha and Angela for a lovely holiday.
