Wishing all our guests, past present and future a happy, healthy and peaceful new year. If you make some money as well, that’s a bonus.
As promised, our MP Juliet Holness returned with her photographer. Perfect location with the Blue Mountains as a back drop.
Followed by our own Blue Mountain coffee, what more could you ask for?
Our MP, Juliet Holness visited our community to discuss (among other topics), the bad condition of our road. After dinner at the farm and a cup of Blue Mountain coffee we were promised help in the way of materials. Along with our community ‘road days’ this should see an improvement in driving conditions to the farm in the near future.
Team Gillette are a group of doctors and nurses from the USA, that for the last 10 years have visited Jamaica to help disabled children. They donate equipment and medicine as well as their own vacation time. We were privileged to have some of them as guests at Lime Tree Farm. On behalf of Jamaica, as they say here – nuff respect and big up yourself.
While we now offer more options re accommodation in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica for budget travellers – shared rooms and use of kitchen facilities, for the 2018/19 tourist season, the cost of full board accommodation remains unchanged. We have made small increases in Kingston return transfers and excursion rates. This is in line with rising (constantly) fuel prices.
Lime Tree Farm still remains the best value for your visit to the Blue Mountains. All cottages have en suite bathrooms, hot water and a private balcony.
The Blue Mountains are, arguably, the most beautiful, unspoiled and authentic region of Jamaica. It also attracts the least amount of tourists.
So, if you really want to get away from everything – and everyone, this is the place.
The winter birds are arriving for their annual holiday in the Blue Mountains. Traditionally, this is a busy time for us at Lime Tree Farm with keen birders from all over the world visiting. As a tropical island, Jamaica is a bird haven all year round. Over the course of a year and counting the wide range of migrant species, more than 300 bird species may be seen in Jamaica. Of them, more than 125 breed on the island, and 28 are found nowhere else in the world. We offer competitive birding packages individually tailored to suit any itinerary.
One drink you must try when you’re at Lime Tree Farm is the delicious trendy new drink ‘Cascara’ or coffee cherry tea (not to be confused with ‘ cascara segrada’.) The Blue Mountain coffee skin is removed washed and sun dried and then served as a hot or cold tea, with honey, ginger, cinnamon or nutmeg. A sweet refreshing drink with very little caffeine!
Lime Tree Farm will shortly have a brand new website for the 2018/19 tourist season. We are making a number of changes to the property also.
Two new areas will be available to guests, Breezy Hollow (designed by my wife Tifony) and the yet to be named (by a guest?) large patio area below ‘Nyaam Inna ya’.
We are also introducing new options for budget travellers to Jamaica. As they say – watch this space.
Finally finished the fireplace! One old cement mixer drum, 64 separate metal plates, 1020 rivets – and a very sore hand! After a day bird watching or hiking in the Blue Mountains enjoy a cup of Blue Mountain coffee in front of the fire on those ‘cooler’ evenings.
Started freshening the rooms with new paint jobs. Each year all cottages are given a make over. This year we opted for slightly more vibrant colours for the interiors.
